  • THE MAIL ON SUNDAY ARTICLE ABOUT THE FREE ALBUM
Multi platinum pop act McFly and the UK’s leading weekend paper The Mail On Sunday have agreed a deal that will see the band give away new music to millions of people across the UK and Northern Ireland.

In a revolutionary deal for an act of their genre, McFly will give away their brand new album ‘Radio:ACTIVE’ free exclusively with The Mail On Sunday on July 20th, allowing the band access to the paper’s 5.8million readers.

McFly are back with a bigger sound and a brand new agenda. Last year the band opted to leave the major label that launched them in 2004 and helped them achieve multi-platinum sales success.

Instead they have set up their own label, Super Records. Funded by McFly themselves, the label is a wholly independent operation, staggering not just for an act of their size, but because all four members are only aged between 20 and 22. This new freedom has given the band the opportunity to pursue new ways of getting their music into the public domain.

Singer/guitarist Tom Fletcher says, “We want to get our music out to the widest audience possible and working with a massive paper like The Mail On Sunday will definitely help us achieve that. We’re very excited about this great opportunity. Setting up our own label allows us to rip up the rulebook and find new ways of reaching an audience.”

“It was time to move on from our old label” explains Tom. “There were no hard feelings. We’ve had a great career up to here, but we wanted complete control of the creative side of McFly. We wanted our new songs to sound exactly as they did in our head when we wrote them, no compromises at all.”

Stephen Miron, Managing Director of The Mail On Sunday says: “As part of The Mail On Sunday’s ongoing innovation in bringing new music to the masses and exactly a year since we created a World first with Prince’s new album, we are absolutely delighted to be involved with one of the UK’s biggest selling pop acts, McFly. We’re very excited to be giving away the new album free with the paper on July 20th and are confident that millions of our readers will love the new album.”

A deluxe version of ‘Radio:ACTIVE’ will be released physically by Super Records through all retailers in September. This edition will feature four extra brand new songs, a bonus DVD and a 32 page booklet, providing huge value money for McFly fans.

The album marks a glorious start to the second stage of the quartet’s career. Recorded in Australia in January with producer Jason Perry, former frontman of rockband ‘A’.
Stand out tracks include first single ‘One For The Radio’, an ode to the fans who have made them one of the biggest British bands of the decade, the upbeat and anthemic ‘Everybody Knows’ and the infectious soaring melody of ‘Falling In Love’.

The joy and excitement you hear in the album sums up how McFly feel right now.
“We can’t wait for our fans to hear the album and play it to them live”, says drummer Harry Judd. “Are we nervous? Not at all. These songs are by far the best we’ve ever done. We’ve never been happier.”

  • MCFLY ON PEREZ HILTON
It's getting harder and harder for bands to make a splash with album releases these days.
So….musicians are thinking outside the box!

British pop punk band McFly is going the Prince route and teaming up with the UK's Daily Mail to give away its new music in the paper's Sunday, July 20th edition.

McFly's super dreamy singer/guitarist Tom Fletcher says, “We want to get our music out to the widest audience possible and working with a massive paper like The Mail On Sunday will definitely help us achieve that. We’re very excited about this great opportunity."

This partnership will give the band access to the Sunday Mail's reported 5.8 million readers.
Are you Brits excited about the giveaway?
